Dalmatia Multi Adventure Tour - Dinaric Mountains and Rivers

please inquire for other tour dates, as we're flexible and happy to offer different dates for your group

While most people imagine pristine beaches and crystal-clear Adriatic sea when Dalmatia is mentioned, you're about to discover there's so much more to it. Zadar region is one of the most naturally diverse areas in Croatia and it offers beauty and adventure for everyone. From imposing mountain peaks and magnificent gorges to artistic natural karst shapes and deep river canyons, the wilderness you will experience will leave you in awe. There will be times, far from civilization and phone signal, when everything else you know will disappear and you'll be fully immersed into the now and the nature around you. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and let us help you awake the explorer within you.

Dalmatia's land is carved in rock and its history is visible on every corner. Rugged coastline and the Adriatic sea are a pleasant habitation and the fight for the land goes as long as the know history. Its cuisine secrets are carried from generation to generation and  love for the sea is ingrained in the culture. Zadar region is surrounded by five national and two nature parks and occupies the central part of the Croatian coast. We will cycle on the untamed Velebit mountain and experience the paths from the past. Kayaks will take us on the playful white waters of inland rivers and we'll get lost in the beauty of waterfalls and natural swimming pools. We'll hike through the gorges, walk along the less known river trails and let you make make memories of a lifetime.

(KAYAK) – 3h

River Zrmanja is well known for its playful white waters but the calm lower stream that gently flows into the sea is no less stunning. The river has penetrated its way towards the sea for many centuries and by breaking carbonate-based grounds it created one of the most impressive canyons in Croatia. We will kayak through the canyon and experience one breathtaking view after another. This day should physically not be very hard but it will hopefully prove to you right away that this adventure was the right choice.

Baške Oštarije

(BIKE) – distance 50 km (30 mi) / elevation 900 m (2900 ft)

Imagine cycling on a curvy gravel road with views on the massive karst rocks to one side and Adriatic sea to the other while you're passing through the old tunnels carved into the rock. Today is that day and while elevation might break a sweat, every bit of energy lost will be replaced with experience and unique views of landscape gained.

National Park Paklenica

(HIKE) – distance 10 km (6 mi) / elevation 500 m (1600 ft) / 3 h

Due to its unique natural features, magnificent forests, and extraordinary geomorphologic structures, the area of Velika and Mala Paklenica has proclaimed a national park in 1949. While the smell of the forest will be calming to your senses, the vertical gorge and big wall rock climbing areas above will make your palms sweat. A walk through this beauty makes a human feel small and appreciate life at the same time. We'll have the local cuisine specialty with the view, before heading back.

Zrmanja River

(KAYAK) – 5 h

Leave your phone at home, forget about the rest of the world and get ready to experience true wilderness. White water rapids, hidden pools, crystal clear water, powerful waterfalls, and steep canyons will make you feel alive and awake the explorer in you. We'll paddle down the stream, dive from the cliffs, swim in the pools, or just enjoy the rapids and feel the peace surrounding us.

Tulove Grede (Velebit Mountain)

(BIKE) – distance 50 km (30 mi) / elevation 600 m (2000 ft)

Tulove Grede are a karst phenomenon and nature's masterpiece. Some folk tales say the dragons laid their eggs there and the invisible mountain villas are hiding in the rocks. The third mythical creature was believed to be the Black Queen who brought misfortune so the dire mountain pass was named the Queen’s Gate after her. We'll cycle on the old Master’s road which is a route designed along the steep slopes of Velebit in 1832, with numerous hairpin bends between the canyons and the peaks. Still to this day it represents a masterful achievement in road construction and will leave you with glimpses of what travel used to be like in the past.

Krupa River

(HIKE) – distance 10 km (6 mi) / 4 h

Only 7 km long, until it flows into Zrmanja River, Krupa River is a hidden paradise for adventurers. Home to 19 waterfalls which are among the most beautiful ones in Croatia, its water is crystal clear and refreshing, you can drink it without filtering. We will navigate our way through the canyon and soak in the tranquility it offers. Krupa River leaves no one indifferent and it will be the final gem to remember this week of adventures.
